"Give Parents a Break" Program
Children enjoy creative arts, games and more!

The Child Development Center and School Age Programs (SAP) offer Give Parents a Break (GPAB) Monthly programs that alternate monthly on Fridays and Saturdays. GPAB is an Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) program which recognizes that Air Force families are subject to unique stresses due to the nature of military life. AFAS pays the cost of child care for those who feel stress due to:
  • Military member being deployed or TDY
  • Having a child with special needs
  • An emergency situation, such as illness of a family member
  • Family recently moving to the base
  • Unique circumstances or hardships

To be eligible for the program, families must be referred by one of the following base officials:
  • Squadron Commander/First Sergeant
  • Chaplain
  • Doctor or other medical professional
  • Airman and Family Readiness personnel
  • Child Development and Youth Center Directors
 
Paying patrons may use the GPAB program if all spaces are not filled by certificate families. The cost is $3 per child per hour. Cancellation fees apply. For more information about this program, contact the CDC at (DSN) 632-8246 or SAP at 632-7575.

Age groups 6 months - 12 years old

Parents MUST come to the CDC (AREA 1) or Youth Center (Area 1) in advance to complete paperwork & bring CURRENT shot records & submit the referral certificate. Reservations MUST be made each month at the Youth Center (632-7575) or the CDC in Area 1 (632-8246) by COB (1800) the Tuesday PRIOR to the service. (Example: this month's GPAB is the 23rd so reservations MUST be made NO LATER than 1800 on the 20th).

Space is limited and staffing is scheduled based on reservations. If the program is filled, parents may place children on the waiting list and will be contacted for care if there are cancellations.

Care is provided in the CDC in area 1.
