CDC - Deploying Parents
|
|
EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY........the CDC has agreed to modify their process for deploying parents (mil-to-mil and single parents only) that wish to maintain their childcare slot upon return. This is a huge benefit for our parents, and a win-win situation for the base. When mil-to-mil and single parents deploy (AEF or real world) they are able to keep their childcare slots. Parents now have 3-options. 1. Keep child in CDC with another person acting as full legal guardian (and continue to pay full price). 2. Continue to pay full price for slot even though it is not being used. 3. Give the slot back to the CDC to manage for them. • The deploying parent provides a copy of their orders to the CDC and agrees to release the childcare slot for the duration of the TDY (usually 90 to 179 days). A two-week deployment notice is needed, if possible. • The CDC will contact the next parent on the waiting list and offer the slot on a temporary basis. • The "waiting list parents" sign a contract with the CDC that guarantees rental of the slot based on the deploying parent's return date. • If there is no waiting list, the CDC will provide hourly care service to those that need it. • When the deploying parent returns, their slot is automatically given back to them and the temporary contract expires. • If deploying parent returns early, the temporary contract will remain in effect until the original agreed upon date (based on orders). This will ensure both sets of parents thoroughly understand the rules. CDC will assist returning parents with finding alternate child care until original return date. • If the child "ages up" to the next level during the time away from the CDC and no slot is available upon return of deploying parents, the child will be placed in appropriate room at FIRST vacancy, but the children in the room will not be displaced. If this occurs, parents may be without child care temporarily. NOTES: • This policy change does not apply to parents who attend formal training or other TDYs that do not fall within the AEF / real world contingency realm. • Any extension to the return date must be routed through the unit First Sergeant, who in turn, updates the CDC. This allows the CDC to continue renting the slot until the parents return. • If a large number
of families deploy, staffing and enrollment may be impacted resulting
in closed rooms within the CDC. If slots have not been sublet with a
temporary contract (and room's are closed), a slot may not be available
until rooms can be reopened and staffing re-established.
